Clacton Camera Club is Clacton's oldest photographic club. Formed in 1939, the club continues its ethos of making friends through photography, and it is just as much a social body as a photographic one. The club welcomes anyone who has an interest in photography, whatever their skill level or medium they use, be it film or digital. We provide a friendly atmosphere on a Friday evening combining competitions with guest speakers, members' workshops, fun events and demonstrations. Many of our members are highly experienced photographers and are happy to advise and assist newcomers. Please take a moment to browse our pages and, if you would like to come along to any of our meetings, you will be most welcome.

2021/2 Open Competition

As a result of the necessity of holding this season's open competition on Zoom, the normal categories of colour and mono prints have not been possible to include. The winners of the PDI competition are as follows;

1st David Blackwell - 74.5 points

2nd  Colin Brett - 72 points

=3rd Graham Fennell - 70.5 points

=3rd Naomi Foster - 70.5 points

Members' Workshops

During our season which runs from September - May each year, we would normally run workshops on a variety of subjects, including knowing the basics of your camera, working in mono etc - the subjects are determined by demand. Unfortunately, we have been forced to suspend these as we have been confined to meeting on Zoom for the last two years. It is hoped that we may be able to resume the workshops once we are able to meet in person from September 2022.

Being a member entitles you to attend the evening workshops that are of interest to you, helping you to develop your photographic skills.

MEMBERS' AREA

This area of our website is restricted to paid-up members of our club. Those members requiring access should send an email via the 'Contact' page requesting the password.

Our new venue

We are very pleased to announce that Clacton Camera Club has secured new premises for our next season, commencing in September. We will be meeting at Weeley Village Hall, Old Clacton Road, Weeley, CO16 9LW

JEAN PAIN - LRPS, CPAGB
Jean.jpg
IMG_1967 copy.crop (1).jpg

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of our friend and long standing Club member, Jean Pain. Jean, together with her husband Ron, had been a significant figure in photographic circles, both locally and nationally for many years. Always kind hearted, she provided inspiration to many amateur photographers and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The celebration of Jean’s life will take place on Monday 23rd May 2022 at All Saints Parish Church, Walton on the Naze at midday followed by a reception at Frinton Golf Club. All welcome. Please wear bright colours, in recognition of the cheerful person Jean was.

Family flowers only please, but donations in memory of Jean may be sent to St Helena Hospice c/o P.G. Oxley Ltd., 43/47 High Street, Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex, CO14 8BE Tel. 01255 675549 or online at www.pgoxley.co.uk/donate
